People were not designed to sit at desk for eight hours straight every weekday. Therefore, it is important that you get up and move around if you have a desk job. As mentioned last week, there are certain exercises that you may do at your desk to make sure that you get your blood pumping.
If your office has a set of stairs anywhere, use them rather than an elevator. Use them also as part of your office exercise regimen; take a few minutes to run up and down them a few times. On your lunch break, go outside! Even if you bring your lunch or work in a very industrial area, taking ten minutes to walk around will buoy your spirits and make you feel better when you do return to work.
Take your watch or cellphone with you on a trip to the restroom, and use it to clock how many jumping jacks you do in a minute. If you do not think that you can do a minute’s worth of jumping jacks, do ten of them instead. As doing them becomes easier, increase the reps that you complete.
And, make sure that you have the appropriate office seating and modular stations to ensure that when you are sitting down, you feel as comfortable as possible.
